Task 11

Self Reflection: Letter to Lecturer

Dear Dr. Hashimatul,

This year you have become one of my favourite lecturers. Biochemistry is one of the classes that I look forward to every week. The only biology related class that I won’t fall asleep. This is because you can attract people to listen to you while teaching and asking a lot of question to keep all of us active. To make it more interesting, Dr. Hashimatul always ask us to brainstorm with each other whenever there is an activities which makes all of us participated in class. By doing this, we can also understand other student mindset regarding the chapters that we had learn. Our discussing gave me a friendly and closed environment, not only with my lecturer but the whole class.

In every class, I will always jot down what Dr. said because Dr. Hashimatul not only relying on notes but also tries to give a good example o analogy for addition reading and understanding. You always make us remember the highlight of every previous lecture before class started so that we won’t forget.  I can still recall back all of my lectures until now. I have no problem in studying Biochemistry because Dr. Hashimatul makes it fun and always communicate with us. Dr. Hashimatul way of teaching give me motivation to understand more about biochemistry and keeps me focus at all time. Dr. Hashimatul class is different than other classes and also stress free because most of the time we enjoy her teaching very much. Thank you for always explaining the lecture thoroughly. Our lecturer is very approachable; she guides me all the way.

Unfortunately, we have to do our problem-based learning online without our lecturer. But thankfully all of my members are very fun to work with and also have a lot of interesting facts to be shared during our online meeting. From PBL, I learn more about real life situation on what we should do and what we should know if we ever experience this kind of situation.

As for the laboratory sessions, we have no problem in handling the experiment since we are already in our fourth semester. We are used to it by now, using the apparatus, the location of the materials and the rules in the laboratory. Half of our laboratory session we were only using simulation as we cant’t go to the laboratory because of our Movement Control Order.

For e-portfolio, I enjoy writing a e-portfolio as if I’m not trying to understand biochemistry for myself but for everyone who wanted to learn. I’m surprise there were a lot of views. Thank you for reading my Biochemistry blog, I hope you loved biochemistry the way I do. E-portfolio helps me a lot in developing new or deeper learning.

Apart from that, since all of us is  still in our Movement Control Order (MCO), most of our lectures need to be self-studying. Our lecturer gave us some activities to be done for every lecture for us to understand the lecture better. I really do miss my lecturer’s, Dr. Hashimatul class. I want to have a physically class with Dr. Hashimatul one last time but Corona virus is still a threat for everyone. I hope everyone always stay safe.

Lastly, I believe that by learning biochemistry, it can helps us to understand about our body process other than chemical reaction such as respiration and nutrient that we get from each food class. Also the study of the chemical substances and processes that occur in plantsNow, everywhere I go I relate it with biochemistry from when I wake up until I fall back asleep. I just realise that everything that we do related to biochemistry. Maybe I could be the one to fine the vaccine for covid-19 but I’m still a student.

My programme Resouce Chemistry is closely related to Biochemistry. The title is “Bio” and “chemistry”. Basically, biochemistry is both life science and a chemical science which it explores the chemistry of living organisms and the molecular basis for the changes occurring in living cells. It uses the methods of chemistry. I love you Dr. Hashimatul, I still want to be your student in the future if I could. It’s been a wonderful ride in your class.
